What is in the catalog

Most are Catholic parishes. The catalog also includes 105 synagogues, Protestant churches, mosques and temples, so the app shows Shabbat services, Jumu'ah, puja and meditation sittings alongside Mass and vigil times.

Common questions

Does the Mac app work without internet?

Yes — always. The whole catalog ships inside the app, and the app makes no network requests at all. On a plane, in a basement or with Wi-Fi off, it behaves identically.

A parish is missing.

Email us the parish name and city. The catalog is built from published parish and diocesan schedules, and gaps are usually a place that does not publish its times in a readable form. We add them by hand when you tell us.

A service time is wrong.

Please tell us, and please also check with the parish — schedules change for holy days, summer and construction, and the parish is always the final word. Send the parish name and what the correct time is and we will fix the catalog.

How do reminders work?

Save a parish, then turn on a reminder. macOS schedules a notification on your own Mac a set number of minutes before the next service — 45 by default, and you can change it. Nothing is sent to a server, so reminders keep working offline.

I am not getting reminders.

macOS has to be allowed to show them. Open System Settings → Notifications, find Local Mass Finder in the list, and turn notifications on. If you denied the prompt the first time, this is where to undo it.

How do I save a parish?

Select it, then use the save control on the parish card. Saved parishes appear in their own list, and File → Export Saved Parishes… writes them out to a file wherever you choose.

Is it free?

Yes. The Mac app is free, with no purchases and no subscription. There is an optional tip link on this website if you want to support the work, but nothing in the app asks you for money.

Are you affiliated with the Church?

No. Local Mass Finder is an independent app from Analog Arcade. Service times are compiled from public schedules published by the places of worship themselves.
